Key Benefits

  • Reliable, Accurate testing
  •   Excellent customer service

Our services:

  • Geoanalytical Service
  • Sample Preparation
  • Mineral Trade Analysis
  • Sample Export Permit
  • Public Institutions Assistance

1. Geoanalytical service

RMB Geoscience Lab offers various analytical packages to assist in your exploration and site development needs. Our mining and exploration services, including geochemical analysis support mining and exploration companies to measure and develop their resources. All these services are given using the latest technology instrumentations such as Zetium Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (WDXRF), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) and Portable X-Ray Fluorescence (pXRF).

2. Sample Preparation

Sample Preparation is a vital stage in the process of minerals analytical testing and lays the groundwork for all the analysis which will be performed on your sample. The purpose of sample preparation is generally the production of a homogeneous sub-sample, representative of the material submitted to the laboratory. Correct preparation is critical to obtaining meaningful analytical results. The selection of the specific sample preparation procedures will depend on the type and size of the sample, the mineralogy as well as the client's analytical and budgetary requirements. Thus, with demanding and strict process controls, our superior crushing and pulverizing systems ensures the analytical results can be trusted. RMB Geoscience Lab has sample preparation protocols for all sample types including:

  • Soils & Sediments
  • Rocks and drill cores
  • Water
  • Vegetation

The state-of-the-art instruments used in sample preparation are as follows:

  • Jaw crusher BB 500 and Jaw crusher BB 200: these are at the very front of the sample preparation chain, pre-crushing all hard and brittle materials.
  • Disc mill DM 200
  • Planetary Ball Mill PM 400: this is a very powerful machine and produces very fine particle ready to be analyzed depending on the instrument to be used.
  • Sample divider and Splitter
  • Sieve
  • XRF Sample Preparation Pellet Press: Up to 40 tons automatic lab press
  • Claisse LeNeo fusion instrument prepares glass disks for XRF as well as borate and peroxide solutions for AA analysis and ICP analysis.

3. Mineral Trade analysis

When it comes to business, all the parties need to be sure that any analytical results they have been given are 100 % accurate and reliable and that the test method used is transparent. In this case, the RMB Geoscience lab can be reliable and trustworthy as it uses the very latest high-precision methods in the preparation and analysis of samples. Thus, both parties can rest assured that the test results are precise, accurate, and repeatable.

RMB Geoscience Lab has the latest instruments such as Portable X-Ray Fluorescence (pXRF) and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)

4. Sample Export Permit

This service is provided to the mining companies, researchers, and mineral laboratories that need to send non-commercial samples or a small portion of their sample to the clients or any international laboratories for analysis and/or intra-laboratory studies.

5.Public Institutions Assistance

This service is provided to Public institutions like Rwanda Bureau of Investigation (RIB) in order to assist them in the identification of the so-called minerals in various mining companies by their personnel or illegal miners. The instrument used in analyzing the samples is normally Spectro XRF Model 200 and Zetium XRF.

Existing analytical testing instrumentation

The most commonly used testing instruments available in the RMB laboratory are XRF and pXRF.

1. Zetium XRF: Zetium XRF (1 kW) analyzes solid samples in pressed powder and fused beads forms. The pressed powder is routinely used for major and minor oxides (element) analysis while XRF fused beads/disks are applied to trace element analysis. X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) is well-known for its accuracy and reliability.

2. Portable X-ray Fluorescence (pXRF):  Thermo Scientific Niton XL 5. This is generally used in the screening of minerals or ores samples before further analysis. It can also be used in the identification of certain elements in mineral samples and it is a rapid instrument used in testing. This instrument is used to measure solid sample in loose powder form and/or rock directly from the field and where immediate feedback is needed.

3. Spectro XRF: This XRF analyzes solid samples in loose powder and is only used for 3 Ts. This XRF is an Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence type; this type of XRF is a convenient technology to screen all kinds of materials for quick identification and quantification of elements with little sample preparation.
