Kigali, April 22, 2024 –  Francis Kamanzi, CEO of RMB, officially inaugurated the 28th International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Regional Committee Meeting on Natural Resources. The meeting, scheduled from April 22 to 24, 2024, focuses on the fight against the illegal exploitation of natural resources (RINR) in the region.

The event was graced by the presence of Amb. João Samuel CAHOLO, Secretary General of the ICGLR.

During his opening speech, CEO Francis emphasized the importance of preventing our natural resources from falling into the hands of criminals and armed groups who violate human rights in the region. He stressed the need for these resources to benefit the people and economies of our countries.Rwanda stands firmly behind the leadership of the ICGLR in advancing this objective.

The meeting has drawn participants from all member states of the ICGLR. They are engaged in discussions on how the regional bloc can effectively fulfill its role and obligations outlined in the Protocol on the Fight against illegal exploitation of natural resources.
