Kigali, May 13, 2024 – CEO Kamanzi Francis recently welcomed the German Ambassador, Heike Uta Dettmann, for a productive discussion on potential partnerships. The focus areas on mineral value chain development, strengthening mine inspection framework, mineral certification information system, and collaboration in geohazards management.

Rwanda’s mining sector holds immense untapped potential across the entire value chain. Beyond economic contributions, the sector also offers unexplored partnership opportunities in geohazards and volcanology management. As the country embraces green growth, critical minerals necessary for this transition are abundant in Africa. Rwanda, with substantial mineral deposits yet to be fully exploited, stands at the forefront.

Rwanda has made significant investments in both soft and hard infrastructures to bolster its mining sector and has put in place an investor-friendly regulatory framework that ensures a conducive environment for robust growth. The extractive industry has steadily become a cornerstone of Rwanda’s economy, contributing significantly to its gross domestic product (GDP).

The Federal Republic of Germany has played a pivotal role in Rwanda’s mining development including in digitalisation and sustainable mining practices.
