RMB EXECUTIVES HOSTED DELEGATES FROM ULBA METALLURGICAL PLANT
Kigali, July 15, 2025 – The executives of Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB) hosted a delegation from the Ulba Metallurgical Plant (UMP), the world's largest company, based in Kazakhstan, processing uranium fuel pellets, beryllium, tantalum, and niobium products. The courtesy visit yielded productive discussions on ways to supercharge Rwanda’s critical minerals sector.
The land of a thousand hills boasts deposits of minerals critical to accelerate global green technological advances and associated industries including electronics, renewable energy, and aerospace. From tantalum, niobium, tungsten, and tin to lithium, beryllium and rare earth elements such as zircon, monazite and xenotime.
Strategic partnerships with global actors such as UMP fuels Rwanda’s journey towards sustainable development of its extractive industry and paves the way for unlocking new possibilities for technology transfer, investment, and the development of local expertise, which serve as launchpads for Rwanda's economic diversification and sustainable development goals.
