Rwanda Mining Week 2023

Rwanda Mining Week is an annual event curated by Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board, Rwanda Mining Association and the School of Mining and Geology at the College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda. This event is a premier platform for key stakeholders in the mining sector, including industry players, government officials, researchers, and civil society organizations, to come together and discuss critical issues, share insights, and explore opportunities within the mining industry.

The sixth edition of Rwanda Mining Week is under the theme " Embracing Technology, Investments and Responsible Mining." It will be held from Monday 04 to Wednesday 06 December 2023 at Kigali Convention Centre.

This three-day event will feature a diverse range of activities, including conferences, presentations, exhibitions, virtual reality underground mine visits, panel discussions, visits to a mine, refinery and the School of Mining and Geology, an award ceremony honoring 2500 miners, and a thrilling football competition to celebrate mining operators.

Objectives

The objectives of Rwanda Mining Week 2023 are as follows:

  1. To showcase and discuss the latest technological innovations, best practices, and technological advancements in the mining industry that can enhance efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
  2. To emphasize the importance of responsible mining practices, including environmental sustainability, community engagement and ethical sourcing of minerals
  3. To create space for networking, partnerships, and collaborations that can drive the growth of the mining sector in Rwanda and the region.
  4. To provide a platform for mining stakeholders to engage with potential investors, financiers, and partners, fostering collaboration and attracting investment to the Rwandan mining sector.
